1. Apache Web server is a HTTP Server which can accepts request and serve a response whereas apache tomcat also has a servlet container or servlet engine(implementation of Servlet API) which provides run time environment for Servlets and JSP's.

i wanna know
1.whatz the difference between apache webserver and tomcat.
2.how can tomcat alone work as a webserver as well as servlet container?
3.can tomcat work as sevlet container being compatible with other
webservers?(particularly in case when webserver and application server
are to be separate)
4.can tomcat work as a webserver without acting as a servlet
container?if possible let me an example where it can work as that.
Also i am working with a project on grid based webservices.so i
wanna know about deploying java webservices in globus tool kit.so if
anybody regarding this plz provide me the information
